Contemporary Pinups Holiday trading card set November 21, 2012 – Posted in: Blog

Richard has been VERY busy recently with several trading card sets.  Here’s a peek at the latest.

This is a base card for Galan Productions’ upcoming (this December) Contemporary Pinups Holiday trading card set.

I always try to go more for fun and sexy/traditional with my pinups as opposed to anything overtly sexual/porny/more modern. As it’s destiny is to become a trading card (thus itty bitty), I kept it pretty simple insofar as the composition and use of color and color theory. I think I photo referenced about 4 different women in working on this, and that’s one of my dogs popping out of the box. There’s a good chance I’ll also work this into some kind of print for the holidays, as a faux December calendar page, with some wear/aging and the like, if there’s any interest? The original inks were 8×10, which I shrunk down to 5×7 (300 dpi, CMYK) for coloring in Photoshop. I think it took me about a week to color the piece, primary the skin tones.

This puzzle (you’ll note this is actually two sketch cards) is one of five (six if you count this one as two) sketch cards I completed for Galan Productions’ 2012 Contemporary Pinups Christmas trading card set. Playing with doing a Christmas tree in greyscale markers was most fun.

This is two of five (six if you count this one as two) sketch cards I completed for Galan Productions’ 2012 Contemporary Pinups Christmas trading card set. For the most part all of the cards were completed in greyscale, but these two I decided to add some subdued colors to. Well, that green’s pretty vibrant, but STILL…
