Dungeon Dolls by Richard Cox January 18, 2012 – Posted in: Blog – Tags: Richard Cox
Well, I’ve been given the go-ahead to start posting my Dungeon Dolls sketch cards. Below are all 25 sketch cards I did for the set. Clicking on any of the thumbnails will bring up the full size scan. Since I’m posting so many, I thought I would take a moment to say a few things about my work on the set.
All of the cards are greyscale Copic markers, with colored pencil and white ink. I didn’t do any color this time around, as I created a base card, in Copic color, and wanted it to really stand out. So no color on the sketch cards. That said, I think it’ll be apparent to anyone who’s been following my sketch card work that I put a lot more work into any single one of these cards than I do any (non-AP) Marvel card. Axe is a great guy, and Bad Axe is an awesome small company to work for. I want to do my part to help them succeed, and I hope I have.
Regarding my subject matter:
YOU WON’T FIND: any waifs, damsels in distress, torture, licking of “swords” or whatnot. Sorry. I have no doubt you’ll find it elsewhere.
YOU WILL FIND: strong women and happy women; proud women and angry women. And a few with come-hither looks. But mostly I wanted to draw women you’d either find interesting to have a nice conversation with or want to stay the hell away from. Because she has her sword driven through that guy’s decapitated head. Things like that.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy my contributions to the set, and the set itself. There are some amazing cards to be had from some amazing artists if you can get your hands on them. Axe deserves your support, if you’re in a position to give it.
And if you REALLY find my cards groovy imagine what I’ll do for you if you buy an AP or Return from me? Just drop us a note and find out!
